UTILIZING VIRTUAL REALITY IN LEARNING FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS DURING COVID 19 PANDEMIC
Abstract
The use of technology in education has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the educational technologies that can be utilized during the COVID-19 epidemic is virtual reality. Virtual reality is still a new technology and encounters several obstacles in its use. This study aims to examine the use of virtual reality during the COVID-19 pandemic at the elementary school level. This study uses a qualitative approach to phenomenological methods. Data were collected using interviews and observations of 10 teachers and 40 students in 4 provinces of indonesia. Data analysis was carried out by dividing each theme, then finding the relationship between the themes. This study found that the use of virtual reality can help students learn when a regional quarantine is imposed. In addition, virtual learning experiences can train students to be able to think concretely about the subject matter being taught. However, limited virtual reality content becomes one of the obstacles to its utilization.
